Mufti Reiterates Russian Muslims’ Support for Al-Quds
Rawil Gaynetdin made the remark in a meeting with a delegation from the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Arabi21.com reported.
“We closely follow the developments (in Al-Quds and Palestine) and voice solidarity with the Palestinians,” he told the delegation, which was headed by Musa Abu Marzouk.
Gaynetdin noted that the International Quds Day event in support of Palestine has been held at the Grand Mosque in Moscow for more than 30 years.
He added that Muslims in Russia pray for the establishment of peace in Palestine.
He further regretted the intensification of Israeli violence against Palestinians and desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque in recent days.
Abu Marzouk, for his part, appreciated the continued support of the Russian Union of Muftis and the country’s Muslims for Palestine and its cause.
The Hamas delegation had arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for talks with senior Russian officials.
